On this beautiful Aegean island, traveling to the airport from the city centre takes about 20 minutes. Your journey may take a little longer if you choose buses for transportation. You may also consider taking other alternatives such as taxi and car rental.
Taking a taxi is a convenient and comfortable way to travel to the airport. If you wish to stay away from Rhodes’ heat or catch your flight, you can find yourself a taxi in almost everywhere on the island.
You must buy a ticket in advance to use the buses which have stops at different locations in the city. You can get to the airport within half an hour at the latest. Tickets can be purchased from the mini marts around. Buses do not run during night hours and departure times differ in weekdays and weekends. There is a bus running in every 15 minutes between 04:15 and 22:30 on weekdays, while on weekends, in every 30 minutes between 05:10 and 23:00.
Although it is more convenient and comfortable than the other means of transport, it may not be a good idea to rent a car in the heavy Rhodes traffic as it is expensive and risky. But if you are going to be in Rhodes for a long time, you can easily find yourself a vehicle from the many rent a car companies in the city centre.
Diagoras Airport, that host many tourists every year, has a two-storied single terminal building in which there are bank offices, ATM’s and a health center. There are also conferance and meeting rooms in the airport, which has yet to have wireless internet connection.
If you want to get rid of the stress of long waitings and delays or satisfy your hunger, there is a bar, a cafe and a restaurant in the terminal building. In addition to these, there is also a Duty-Free shop where you can buy products such as perfums, souvenirs and newspapers.
Brindisi is situated in the Puglia region of southern Italy. Those visiting the city can fly to the Brindisi - Salento Airport, which is around 5km from the city center. It's so close that passengers who don't have a lot of luggage could just walk to the city center. You can also take a bus, take a taxi or rent a car.
The bus station is just outside arrivals and there's an office you can get a tickets from right next to the terminal. There are three bus lines that depart from the airport. These buses go to the city center and the popular tourist destination of Lecce, as well as the Foggia and Bari airports. Even though the airport is really close to the city center, it’ll take around half an hour to get there by bus because it stops at numerous stations along the way.
If you get off the bus at Via Colombo then you can reach the central train station, that’s on the on the southwestern tip of the city center, by walking. This bus departs every 15 to 30 minutes during the day and the service runs until 23:00. You can get up-to-date information about departure times of the different buses by visiting the airport's information center.
You can reach where you’re going faster and more conveniently by taking a taxi from the airport taxi station. But it’s advised to pay attention to taxis that pick up passengers from the side of the road. These may offer lower service quality and higher rates. Don’t forget to check to see if the meter is running as you start your journey. Also, some taxis may charge extra for luggage.
