It takes about 25 minutes to get to Dortmund city center from the airport by taxi. While taxi fares to the city are more expensive than the bus or train it is still a reasonably priced alternative.
Bus
One of the easiest ways to get to the city from the airport is by AirportExpress buses. AirportExpress buses provide transportation between the airport and Dortmund Central Station. The second option is to take bus number 440 and transfer to the train line.
Train
The airport isn’t directly served by train. However a transportation alternative is to take bus number 440 to the Aplerbeck Station and then transfer to the U47 rail line. You can also take the AirportShuttle to the Holzwickede Station and transfer to a train to the city.
Rental Car
Renting a car is another convenient way to get to the city center from the airport. Rental car companies that have offices at the airport include Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt, and Thrifty Car Rental.
