About Berlevag
Located in the Finnmark region of Norway, Berlevag is an administrative center. Almost all the inhabitants of Berlevag, which houses two settlements, Berlevag and Kongsfjord, live in the village of Berlevag. Berlevag, founded in 1914 by splitting from the Municipality of Tana, has a population of about thousand people according to the data of 2014. The Norwegian Church in Berlevag is also the residence of the head priest of the Diocese of Nord-Halogaland. The church, built in 1960, is a white building with a capacity of 300 people.
Berlevag, located in the northwestern part of the Varanger Peninsula, is also overlooking the Barents Sea. The region, with plenty of rocks and tundra, is isolated from the surrounding area and located in barren land. Geatnjajavri and Skonsvikvatnan Lakes are also in the region, which have no native trees due to cold and windy winter months. During the winter months, while the mild temperature values are experienced in the coastal areas, the inner parts of the region are cold. The average temperature is -15 degrees Celsius in winter and 13 degrees Celsius in summer.
