Located in southern Norway, near the North Sea, Kristiansand is the country’s 5^th most populated city and with a population of 85, 681 in 2014 the municipality is the 6^th largest. Kristiansand is a major port city, home to shipbuilding and overhaul facilities for the North Sea oil industry.  

Norway’s North Sea oil industry is supported by facilities in the city, which provides maintenance, machines, and other equipment for platform needs. Kristiansand is one of Norway’s touristic cities. The city’s beaches attract significant attention particularly in the summer months. The most famous of these beaches are Bystranda and Hamresanden. There is also a marina located in the city and a river that runs through it, like most other historic cities in Europe. There are many social and historic areas surrounding the river.  

This historic city, which is well developed in tourism and industry, has one airport. The Kristiansand Airport, Kjevik offers many direct flights to Mediterranean countries, especially in the summer. You can reach the airport by bus, which is located 12 km from the city.
